Moonrise magic
Moonrise magic
Amsterdam – October, 2018
Amsterdam’s dancing houses at the Damrak are a popular destination with photographers. The name of the street refers to the dam in the river Amstel which eventually became Dam Square. Rak is an old Dutch word for a straight canal. Damrak was Amsterdam’s busiest canal until 1672, with ships sailing all the way up to Dam Square.
Throughout the years I have visited this spot many times to practice long exposure photography. I was particularly happy with the result I got on an October evening in 2018, because the rising moon added just that extra little touch to this classic scene.
