Starstruck
Giant’s Playground, Namibia, 2018
With little to no light pollution, the night sky of Namibia is one of the clearest in the world. When the sun sets and the moon hides behind the horizon, the milky way slowly starts manifesting itself in all its majesty. First, your eyes have to get used to this nighttime spectacle. Then, there’s just stars wherever you look, and it’s like the mystery of the universe falls right into place. When we returned from an astrophotography session near the famous Quiver Tree Forest, I noticed how our car was aligned with the milky way, and our local tour guide was so friendly to complete the composition with a human element – a tiny figure in the grander scheme of things.
